And ironically (considering my blog title), this is the first Illustration Friday I've done completely in ink. Okay, okay, there's some white and black colored pencil in there, but it's MOSTLY ink. And I won't lie, my main motivation for this one is that I really, really wanted to play with my ink markers. And I wanted to do something a little different than I usually do. So without so much as one pencil line sketched in for composition, I just dove right in and inked this bugger purely blank slate (on some of the weirdest paper I had lying around). I don't know how I feel about the background, and in hindsight I should have continued that row of tombstones further, and I probably shouldn't have tried to Van Gogh the stuff furthest away from the subject (like the end of the scarf). But I still had fun doing this, so I regret nothing!
Hopefully this portrays "lonely":
Neat effect! And she is so sad and cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
DeleteIt very much portrays "Lonely." I like the scarf-end-effect. I think it reinforces the image :) Nice little illo!
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to decide if I like that scarf or not, but I'm glad you think it works. Your comment is much appreciated! :)
